Iolite is the gem variety of the mineral cordierite. It has a pretty violet blue color that is unlike other gemstones. Sometimes compared to a light blue sapphire it is often referred to as "water sapphire". Iolite is said to open up intuition. It is believed to help one find direction in life and also promotes comfortable in the leadership role and/or encourages others to accept you in that role. This stone is believed to help prevent others from taking advantage of you and from you allowing your emotions to control you.
